A Weekend In Copenhagen

I've been a bad, bad blogger. Things have been so busy lately, every time I think 'I must blog', it quickly gets pushed to the side with something else being a bigger priority. But I want to get back into the swing of things, and I thought I'd start with a photo diary from a recent trip to Copenhagen.

If you've never been to Copenhagen, you should definitely add it to your list. From the beautiful buildings, to the delicious pastries, Copenhagen is dreamy. From arrival to departure, we found the city super easy to navigate and it's so walkable. We were there in mid-April so the weather was chilly but sunny and dry, perfect for us tourists! The photos tell the story of the city, but I wanted to list some must dos/must sees in Copenhagen:

1. Take a boat tour down the river. I think this cost about £6 and it lasts an hour. A brilliant way to see some of the best parts of the city if you want a break from walking.

2. Eat all the pastries. We went to Lagkagehuset, which is a bakery chain in the city. They do a ridiculous amount of pastries, my favourite was the one featured in the photos below.

3. Visit Freetown Christiania. This is like it's own little district, in which it's legal (or the police turn a blind eye) to buying, selling and consuming drugs. It's safe to say we didn't hang around for long, but it was interesting to visit!

4. Walk to the top of the TÃ¥rnet. This is the tallest tower in Copenhagen and is pretty high at the top - not for those scared of heights. But the views are worth the walk and the feeling that you may just fall off the edge. While you're there, visit the church which is part of the same building. It's breathtaking!

5. Have a drink at Nyhavn. Nyhavn is the place with all the boats and coloured houses which you'll have seen lots of pictures of. We sat outside in the sun with blankets and a bottle of prosecco - heavenly!

6. Drinks - visit the meatpacking district for a drink or two - it's totally different and has a cool vibe.

7. Tivoli Gardens - this is a theme park in the centre of the city. It's pretty touristy but it's really fun and worth a visit. The Nimb Hotel within the gardens is gorgeous. Have a cocktail or two in the bar of the hotel, it's stunning.

8. Visit Kastellet - the military barracks which have been so well preserved - it kind of feels like you've stepped back in time.

I could go on and on but I'll let you discover the rest if you visit. And if you have any suggestions of things to do in Copenhagen, please comment! I'm sure I'll be back...
