Top 5 Lipsticks: The Nudes

Before I start this post, I have a disclaimer... I'm not really a fan of 'nude' lipsticks in the way they are traditionally known. I can't pinpoint what is it with me and nude lipsticks, but they really don't suit me. I think against my skin tone and dark hair they drain my face and make me look older. On a whim a couple of years ago, I bought Snob by MAC cause it was what all the cool kids were wearing... oh my. It looked horrific on me... I think I wore it once and learnt my lesson. The following favourites are a combination of pinks and peaches that just about fit into the 'nude' category - and which I would class as nude - easy to wear and brighten up the face, without looking intense or too in-your-face.

Left-right: Mac Plumful, The Body Shop Rush of Pink, NARS Roman Holiday, MAC Peach Blossom, BITE Beauty Syrah

Mac Plumful: Now this looks really dark in the swatch above, but I promise it's not! You can wear this really lightly on the lips and it just adds a hint of berry but still looks natural. If I had to describe it in a sentence, I'd go with a berry tinted 'your lips but better' shade. Really pretty, especially for Autumn/Winter months!

The Body Shop Rush of Pink: This sheer pink has a lilac undertone to it which I LOVE. It instantly lights up my face on a minimal/no make-up day. It's so comfortable to wear and makes blue eyes pop. It's a great price too, and The Body Shop always do discount codes if you subscribe to their mailing list.

NARS Roman Holiday: MY FAVOURITE. This has been loved by me for a few years now, and I just love it. It's so nourishing, glossy and just the perfect subtle pink. I love NARS as a brand, and most Space NK visits result in a purchase...

MAC Peach Blossom: A relatively new favourite for me, Peach Blossom is the nudest of the lot and it's about a nude as I can go before my face starts to drain of all it's colour! But I think this finishes off an everyday make up look, and it's perfect to compliment a smoky eye too.

BITE Beauty Syrah: The most peachy/coral-ly of the bunch, this lip crayon is highly pigmented and it's matte, but still has a sheen to it and doesn't dry out lips. The best thing about BITE is that all the ingredients are good enough to eat so there are no nasties in there!

What's your favourite nude lipstick? Are there any I should add to my collection?!

  1. Love these picks. I have Plumful too and think it's such an easy shade to wear. I used to think I hated nude lips but I've found a few shades that I really love and now I'm converted. One that I always recommend to everyone is MAC Mehr. It's a matte shade and it's absolutely stunning. It's a dirty pink shade that isn't your typical nude but is just enough to fit into that category. I didn't think I'd suit Velvet Teddy but I actually really like it on and I've been toying with picking up Twig too. xxx

    1. Oh I might have to check out Mehr Kirsty! Thanks for the recommendations :) nudes can be really hard to wear. One that I didn't include which I love in Soar, but it can be slightly drying xxx

  2. I'm like you, I don't wear any actually nude lipsticks, just more natural shades that have color. It's the spring now, so I've been wearing super bright lips these days :)
