The new red lip

Before I get into this post, let me clarify something. Hearing the words 'lip' and 'matte' used in the same sentence is enough to send me running for the hills. But seriously, my lips and matte lipsticks do not go together. I don't even have particularly dry lips, I take pretty good care of them, but if I slap on a matte lipstick, you can guarantee within 30 minutes my lips will be dry, cracking and flaky. I know - gross. But it's true!

But back to the product in hand. I have finally managed to find a matte lip colour that doesn't actually dry out my lips. *Hurrah*

Enter the Sephora lip cream stain. This is a (matte) red lip stain that just bats it out of the park on all fronts. The lip stain deposits an impressive opaque red colour in one coat. The formula is quite thin, which is surprising considering the staying power and opacity. You certainly need to apply carefully, but the doe foot applicator helps out a lot with this. Applying just one coat gives you a hit of colour that lasts for hours. This stuff doesn't dry out my lips at ALL and even better, once the stain has dried, you completely forget it's there - that's how lightweight it is.

The shade 01 is a bright all-round red shade which will suit most skin tones and I think it's really flattering.

One of the best things about this lip stain is the price - with all the benefits, you would expect it to be pricey, but it comes in at just $13. (That's just over £8 - bargain!) I am super impressed and might just have to pick up another shade on my next trip to the States (which is in 25 days' time - not that I'm counting...)
